FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You've got questions? I've got answers! And if you don’t find what you need here, just let me know.

What is Soapworks Studio?

Soapworks Studio is a one-woman home business (with occasional help). Proprietress Heidi Risse makes all the products from scratch in her kitchen, designs the packaging and labels herself, and packs each item individually with care. There is a small curing area, a busy little office and a bit of room for packing up the orders too. This has been a twelve year labor of love (with moments of frustration), constantly evolving the product line, experimenting in the world of fragrance, hunting down the most unique packaging, and delighting in providing the best quality and most nurturing bath and body products for her new group of “friends.”

Where can I find Soapworks Studio products?

The full, up-to-the- minute line of Soapworks Studio products can always be found here on this web site. I sell my items primarily through craft shows, street fairs and festivals, and mail order -- through the seasonal newsletters and online. For the full list of shows I am participating in, please check out the Calendar section. Each event is listed on the monthly calendar, and you can find more detailed information by clicking on a specific event.

Do you sell Soapworks Studio products wholesale to retail stores?

Unfortunately, due to the fleeting nature of many of the seasonal Soapworks Studio products and the small quantity I produce, I'm unable to do a large wholesale business. Preferring to keep my collection small, special, freshly made, and in harmony with the seasons, I promise that I am able to offer you excellent quality at a wonderful price. There are just a few carefully selected shops that carry my products, and you can find out more about them on the Shops page.

How do I buy something from this web site?

It’s so easy! Just click the big green “Add to Cart” button on the individual item page for each product. While shopping, if you want to see the list of items in your shopping cart, click the “View Shopping Cart” button. Once you’ve chosen all your items, click the “Checkout” button. You will be directed to fill in a form with your name, phone number, email and shipping addresses, and credit card information. Click “Submit” and you’re finished. You will receive a confirmation of your order by email. And again, if you have questions or problems at any time, feel free to call the office or shoot us an email for help.

Are there any other ways to order the Soapworks Studio Products?

Yes, you can also call the studio during office hours (9am-5pm Mon-Fri) at 206-322-4503 and order directly by phone using Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. You can also send in the order form attached to the most recent brochure, with a check or credit card number for payment.

How long does my order take to arrive? How will it be shipped?

My policy is that all orders are processed and shipped within 2 business days. Since I am such a small business, occasionally orders may take an extra day or two in lieu of time away from the office for shows. However, you will always be notified by phone or email as to when you can expect the order if it is to be delayed in any way.

I primarily use the US Postal Service's "Priority Mail" service for all shipments. Transit time for local packages is one to two days. Transit time for out of state shipments depend on your distance from Seattle, and varies 2-3 days. Very large or fragile orders will be sent via UPS, for insurance and tracking purposes, and will have a transit time of 2-7 days depending on distance. Orders shipped out of the country are handled individually, and will be charged actual shipping charges, using the best available method. Overnight and express shipping is available by request, and for an extra charge. Please call if you need special help with your order.

Ooops! I thought I saw the shipping charges when I was checking out, but they don't show up on my confirmation. What are the shipping charges and how does that work?

The shopping cart affiliated with this web site cannot calculate shipping charges because I have chosen flat rates based on the amount of the order, rather than by weight calculations. When you are placing your order, this chart will appear in red on the page where you fill in your name, address and credit information. Since the shopping cart is not calculating the cost for shipping, it will not appear in your email confirmation -- but it will be charged to your credit card exactly as explained, and will appear in the actual invoice that comes with your order. That final invoice is your actual receipt for the amount charged. It will include taxes too if you are a Washington state resident. The chart is as follows -- but if there are any questions, please don't hesitate to call and ask!

Orders totalling:
$15 or less = $5.00
$16.00 to $29.00 = $6.50
$30.00 to $49.00 = $ 8.00
$50.00 to $79.00 = $ 9.50
$80.00 to $99.00 = $10.00
$100 and above = 10% of order total

One final note: The 4 bars for $15.00 discount that is mentioned in all our mailings will also be calculated at the time of transaction and will appear on your final invoice.

I don't see your (blank) soap on the list anymore? or I used to buy your (blank) spray and it's not listed here? Do you still have it?

One of the most important aspects of the Soapworks Studio business is the seasonal focus. I am always trying out new seasonal scents on the soaps and sprays, and coming up with new product ideas that are available just for a short window of time. When the seasons change, there is a new menu of seasonal scents and new products. Often the spring scents will last into summer, for example, but there are no guarantees. The items marked as seasonal are temporary, so if you find something you can't live without - stock up! However, the fragrances that become huge hits, or get requested often, usually show up again the following year, and sometimes a year or two later too. I plan my new scents around requests and customer feedback, so it's always great to hear from you. Aromatic spray fragrances can almost always be made out of season as a custom order, so don't hesitate to call. And out-of-season soap scents are also sometimes still available - either in the Clearance Sale section of the web site, or just quietly resting here at the studio - it never hurts to ask.

How can I get on the list to receive the Soapworks Studio seasonal newsletter in the mail, or receive the email updates?

Just give me a holler! You can call the office with your request, send us a quick email, or fill in the info on the Mailing Lists form.
